Completely renovating a home kitchen is not an easy feat, much less when working with a tight deadline. Designer Anne Sage was able to completely modernize a 1980s styled kitchen in a matter of 8 weeks! The original kitchen was constructed of “weird angles, orange laminate floors, and honey pine cabinets” with a wall dividing the kitchen from the living room and dining room. It was up to her to completely transform this kitchen before her clients moved in. With a difficult task at hand and a $60k budget, she went to work.
DEMOLITION BEGINS
Anne mentioned the demolition started just two days after initially taking on the project and without any designs in mind other than knowing her clients wanted to live in a beautiful home with a modern and sleek yet, warm and inviting feel, she immediately began stripping the walls and removing the disastrous wall isolating the kitchen.
After stripping the walls and achieving the large open concept she began to work her magic in creating a design based on materials she was able to receive in a timely manner. The dark and modern wood cabinets came from BOXI by Semihandmade in just 2-3 weeks after her order and all vintage materials were already produced eliminating long lead times, a MUST, with such a tight deadline. In addition to the dark finished wood cabinets, she opted for sleek black appliances and black quartz countertops with gold, white, and burnt sienna veining.

Piecing It All Together
Next, she had to fulfill the warm and inviting aspect of her client’s wishes. With the cabinets and appliances representing the modern dark elements of her kitchen design, Anne infused the warm inviting elements of European White Oak Flooring by Garrison Collection (Da Vinci – Bianca) throughout the home. The light natural toned flooring and the open concept were a great way to balance the modern black matte finished cabinets. To finish it off, Anne used espresso-like wood tones for the dining table to create the perfect blend of dark and light colors in the home.
Overall, the design was completely finished before the deadline and the end result was amazing! What do you think about this kitchen renovation? Let us know in the comments below!
